PRP or Platelet-rich Plasma is a procedure done by injecting blood plasma which contains growth factors that improve function and structure of the skin.
How is PRP treatment performed?
The procedure include drawing up small amount of patient blood then spun in a centrifuge for about 15 minutes. Once the platelets and growth factors are separated then a small needle or derma-pen is used to inject the plasma into the required area.
What are the side effects of PRP?
As PRP injection contains your own blood, the risk of any allergic reaction is absent.
What is the recovery time of PRP injections?
Most patients can continue their daily activities after the PRP treatment and just few of them need rest for few days.
What are the cosmetic indications of PRP?
- Hair fall
- Skin rejuvenation
- Fine wrinkles
- Melasma and hyper-pigmentation
- Dilated pores
- Acne scar
- The adjuvant effect with monotherapy
Is PRP painful?
We are using small needle or derma-pen while injection, which reduce pain but some patients may feel discomfort from injections.
How many injections I need in my PRP treatment?
It depends on the skin nature of each patient. Typically 4-6 sessions are indicated to get the optimal result but some patients need more or less. However, maintenance injections twice per year is highly recommended.
